About This Partner

Centre Lumiere is a holistic ministry that focuses on equipping young women with the Gospel, vocational training, and life skills. Our primary goal is to strengthen them spiritually so that they are better prepared for the challenges they will face in life. Haiti is a nation fraught with the devastation of hunger, natural disaster, violence, and political unrest. Women carry much of the weight of daily life and sustenance in Haiti. Centre Lumiere seeks to be a haven where women find peace in the midst of challenging life circumstances so they can leave our campus full of the love of Christ and ready to invest in the communities in which they live.

The non-profit school offers a three-year program with classes in Bible and Christian living, domestic economics, cooking, baking, crochet, embroidery, sewing, hospitality, bookkeeping, health, and English.

A daily devotional time plays a fundamental role in nurturing spiritual growth and social consciousness. Training in hospitality, child development, teaching, and serving prepares the women to be strong assets to their families, churches, schools, and communities. Graduates are prepared to work as handcraft artisans, teach home economics, or work at local hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. Our goal is to add a computer lab in the near future, that would provide them with greater marketable skills in their professional lives.

Our lunch program ensures that students receive at least one good meal each day they attend the Centre, and teaches them the importance of providing nutritious meals with the provisions that are available to them. The scholarship program enables young women to receive an education even when they are not able to afford the full cost of the school on their own. In addition, there is a medical fund available to assist with needs when they arise.
