About This Partner

Grace for the Journey sums up the ministry commitment and focus of David and Sue Ryttersgaard. Their mission is to help followers of Christ to know God’s Word and promises and to experience his grace in their lives. With those who don’t know the Lord yet, they share the good news—God loves them and wants to be a part of their journey in this life and for eternity.

Pastoral and Leadership Training

David and Sue have lived and served internationally for more than 35 years and continue to partner with churches, pastors, and leaders in Africa and Canada for pastoral and leadership training and encouragement. David travels to Africa regularly, sharing in conferences, seminars, and churches. Having lived and traveled widely in Africa, his teaching is contextual, relational, and timely—Africans have referred to David as an “inside-out Oreo”– “white on the outside but with the heart of an African.”

Teaching Resources

Based in Kelowna, BC, Canada, David is continually connecting with leaders while preparing biblical teaching resources for Africa and Canada. Working with transcribers and translators he is preparing current recordings for posting online and in an app (currently in development) in English and Swahili. Other languages will be added according to need and resources.

Million Child Challenge

Dreaming of a million children coming to faith in Christ and being nourished weekly in Sunday schools in Tanzania and across Africa, David and Sue are developing partnerships with churches, across denominations, for training Sunday school and youth teachers. The goal is a culturally contextual, multi-year curriculum with simple outlines that can be sent by text, app, email, WhatsApp, or Telegram to inspire and assist the teachers. Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)

Community Chaplain

In Canada and Africa, David makes himself available as a community chaplain/pastor to the churched and those with no affiliation. David serves a congregation in Canada as a part-time pastor and makes himself available to others in the community. He also serves as the volunteer chaplain (padre) to the Royal Canadian Legion, Kelowna Branch—offering pastoral care to veterans, members, and their families, including hospital and home visitation, celebrations, funerals, and memorials. He also performs official duties as the chaplain for ceremonies and commemorations, including Remembrance Day.
