About this Partner

Sewn To Restore is a group led by Katie Martinez. We are called by Christ to pierce the darkness with His light: specifically targeting the injustice of human trafficking. Our restoration program supports the journey of survivors toward a dignified and independent life by offering Christian guidance for life, education, and training for various job skills including sewing garments. The end goal of this program is to help place survivors into dignified jobs in order to break the cycle of poverty.

The primary challenge we face is financial. Katie Martinez has a business that she uses profits to fund as much as possible, but there are limitations. We are seeking donations to help fund and multiply our endeavor.

The action steps of Sewn To Restore is to raise awareness and combat in the area of human trafficking. Our primary awareness focus is labor trafficking within the fashion industry.

Aid women survivors who have been affected directly, or are at risk, of human trafficking. They are considered ‘clients’ in our program.

Building and managing a life skills center, called the Restore Room. Our clients will be provided with life, educational, and vocational training in trade skills such as sewing garments, learning English, computer training, hairstyling, hospitality and food service, and artistic skills like photography and graphic design. Clients will complete our program in 9-12 months, cost-free to them.

At graduation, we will make them aware of specific employment opportunities, or they can choose to look for opportunities on their own. Any job offers we present will be with employers who offer fair wages and fair working hours.

Our long term vision is to plant Restore Rooms around the world in countries where labor trafficking is prominent.
