Famille de Bethlehem (Bethlehem Family) is a registered NGO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) dedicated to supporting widows and orphans. Since its founding in 1981, it has provided care for over 500 children, many of whom have lost their families due to war, violence, accidents, or maternal mortality. Today, it supports more than 130 children across two homes—one in Bukavu and another in Katana, about 30 minutes outside the city.
The organization ensures that children have access to health care, education, and consistent healthy meals. However, more than just meeting basic needs, it provides a structured and supportive environment where children can develop a sense of security and belonging.
However, the recent crisis in Bukavu has made conditions for thees children even more difficult. Rising food prices and instability have impacted the children, making external support even more critical. Despite these pressures, Bethlehem Family remains committed to ensuring that the children in its care continue to receive the resources and attention they need.
This work is sustained through contributions from supporters in the US, Canada and worldwide. These donations directly impact the lives of the children, helping them access education, nutrition, and healthcare—essentials that would otherwise be out of reach.
