This left a large number of children as orphans, and a rampant number of "child-headed families" all over Uganda.Prior to Child Support Ministries Africa’s interventions that rescues, shelters and supports children in school; most of these children had no homes to live in, no mature adult to care for them nor any source of income for livelihoods. As a result, most of these children were abused and exploited, and some of them were ending up on the streets as street children- and lived and feed from the dustbins.
