Destiny Adoption Services Year-End Update

https://gcfcanada.comwp-content/uploads/2020/11/Destiny-Adoption-555-header-1024x683.jpgUpdateThere are approximately 15,000 children in the care of Children’s Aid Society in Ontario and a total of 80,000 children in care in Canada. In Ontario, over 6,000 are in extended society care which means they are not going to their family of origin and they are available for adoption. Many of these children will age out of the foster care system without finding their forever family. In Canada, there are approximately 30,000 children and youth available for adoption. We cannot allow this number to continue to grow. For over a decade Destiny Adoption Services has been working to change these sobering statistics. Together we can change the destiny of vulnerable children and youth.

We need families to step up to both foster and adopt. November concludes Fostering and Adoption Awareness month and it is vital for us to highlight stories of children and youth in waiting to the greater body of Christ. Our goal is to have just one family, in every church across the city of Ottawa and eventually our nation, step up to foster, adopt or support those who do. Everyone has a role to play in the lives of our children and youth. Our MinistryStatistics show that only 40% of foster youth finish high school. Kids in foster care are over-represented in youth justice, mental health, and shelter systems. These children and youth are high risk. As we work in collaboration with churches, schools, pregnancy care centers and other fostering and adoption organizations, we advocate for Canada’s waiting children and youth. With your consistent support we provide advocacy and education. We provide consulting to individuals, couples and families desirous to grow their family through adoption. We also provide confidential, compassionate support to young women and their partners who choose adoption for their baby. Our hands on, 24/7 counselling support can change a destiny forever. That’s our mission – that’s our mandate!Thank You For Your Prayers & SupportAt Destiny Adoption Services, we seek to raise awareness and encourage the body of Christ to step up to serve vulnerable children. We seek to run towards broken people with the power of Christ’s hope and redemption. May we all live out the mandate given to us in Scripture:
Religion that is pure and faultless before God is to look after the orphan and widow and to keep oneself unstained from the world. ~ James 1:27
