Christian Camping Blog - Oct 12, 2022

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, we have been coordinating evacuation efforts carried out by Christian camps and providing financial assistance to Christian camps and conference centers in Ukraine to help the camps that host refugees cover utility bills, purchase bed linen, washing machines, laundry detergent, fuel and food.

We have also been sponsoring children and youth to attend Christian camps by providing camper sponsorship funds directly to camps and depending on the camps selecting the eligible campers. In the summer of 2022, 217 camps that are part of our network hosted over 40,000 campers; of these, we supported financially 40 camps in Ukraine that applied to us for funding, where a total of 7,741 children and youth found refuge, received care and experienced God’s love.

Marko, 13, was born into a dysfunctional family and at the age of 9 could neither read nor write. He was then adopted into a Christian family that had 13 children, 11 of which were adopted. Marko and his family fled from bombing and shelling to a safer place. At camp this summer he was impressed by the story of the paralyzed man healed by Jesus. The boy said, “If Jesus can heal people and change their lives, then I, too, have hope in this life”.God chose to use Christian camps and conference centers as an answer for many who were in need in spring and summer since the war began.

Henry Blackaby and Claude King have written “Experiencing God” which has a simple but challenging message: “Watch to see where God is at work and join Him there”.Thank you for considering joining God's work done in Ukraine through the Association of Christian Camps and Conference Centers by sending your donations to support our ministry.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has disrupted the lives of Ukrainian people, organizations, and ministries, beyond imagination. Although the number of camps able to operate was reduced, we thank the Lord that 30% of the camps that are part of our network were able to pull together their human and financial resources and courageously pursue their calling this past summer.

We are thankful for the timely support we received through the Great Commission Foundation at that time of unexpected and huge need. Help us raise 250,000 USD. We researched the needs of our camps and have concluded that this is the amount we can steward responsibly to support Christian camps in Ukraine to be the places of refuge, hospitality and God’s love this winter and into 2023.

Association of Christian Camps and Conference Centers also known as Christian Camping International Ukraine is a Ukraine-based not-for-profit organization with the mission to help build the Church by being a network maximizing ministry of Christian camps and camp leaders. In operation since 1996, as of this year, we serve 657 Christian camps in Ukraine and 43 camps in several other countries of Eurasia.

Prayer Request:

  • Pray for a just peace for Ukraine that will restore Ukraine's territorial integrity.

  • Pray for the healing and restoration of Ukraine and its people.

  • Pray for God to continue to use Christian camps and conference centers to fulfill his purpose for the people of Ukraine.
