Dan & Carlina Courteau Blog - Nov 2, 2022

Hello, we are Dan & Carlina Courteau. We serve as full-time suburban missionaries in the city of Ottawa, Canada. We have been involved with The Great Commission Foundation since 2021. We appreciate the encouragement, support, accountability, and credibility that GCF provides.

We practice a missional way of living. Our goal is to simply follow God into the neighbourhood from one day to the next. This means that ministry is often unpredictable, yet exciting and fulfilling. We search for opportunities to promote and advance the gospel of Jesus Christ through our works and our words whenever possible. We constantly seek to sow seeds of God’s kingdom into the lives of our neighbours. Consequently, we have witnessed many fruitful relationships develop and numerous opportunities to share the love of Christ in diverse.

While walking to a nearby park this summer, we met a wonderful Muslim couple in our community. We enjoyed coffee, food, and fellowship together. We also spent one or two evenings a week (for several months) walking around the neighbourhood and talking. As our friendship grew, we learned that the husband loves playing table tennis (ping pong). As a gift for his birthday, we purchased a ping pong table, delivered it, and helped set it up in their basement.

Afterward, we received the following text message from the husband: "You are the great gift from God to me. Your generosity with me...makes me unable to thank you enough. Since I came to Canada …this is the first time I feel happy and I laugh from my heart. And who does this to me, only you? Thank God because I have you. This is the first time I feel I am not alone. Grateful to Allah his favour that he gives you." Now, over this coming winter, we have something fun to participate in while engaging in meaningful discussion.

Prayer Request:

1. We welcome your prayers! Please pray that God continues to open more doors for us to demonstrate the kindness and goodness of God to our neighbours.

2. Pray that God gives us wisdom and discernment as we follow His leading.

3. Pray for new immigrants to Canada, who often suffer from loneliness, that they would be warmly welcomed to Canada and get connected with people in their community
