For Freedom International

2022 Year-End Overview

There is a serious predicament happening in Thailand; the number of male victims of exploitation is rising at an alarming rate. Sexual abuse of male students by school teachers and the trafficking of boys through online pornographic material are highly prevalent, but facilities for their restoration are exceptionally sparse. Currently, there is only one shelter for underaged male victims in Thailand, and it is in the far North, essentially inaccessible for the victims FFI encounters.

Because of the high prevalence of male victims of exploitation in the South and the lack of other viable resources for them, FFI plans to establish a shelter in Phuket for exploited boys. The shelter will host 12 victims at a time and have in-house psychiatric, social work, and 24-hour support staff. Victims will receive basic and specialized services to support their road to recovery. A multi-disciplinary team of professionals will coordinate victim support to facilitate access to justice, provide protective care, and nurture healing and wholeness.

Our Ministry

For Freedom International exists to break chains of oppression so that people can encounter Christ, live in freedom, and change the world. Based in Phuket, Thailand, For Freedom International (FFI) works in the areas of prevention, intervention, and restoration of women and children from sexual exploitation, abuse, and trafficking.FFI conducts exploitation awareness training in schools, facilitates community development programming, supports local foster families, operates an online mentorship crisis intervention program, collaborates with law enforcement in trafficking investigations, runs the Child Advocacy Center in the south of Thailand, and provides aftercare for survivors through vocational training. Since receiving official status as a Thai Foundation in 2017, FFI has trained approximately 4,300 students at 28 schools on exploitation prevention, managed a safe house with a total of 27 students in the vocational training program, and seen six perpetrators of child sexual abuse and exploitation arrested through evidence gathered by our team.

Urgent Needs

The total amount required to open and operate this shelter in 2023 is $141,584 USD. Help us provide safety, security, and space for healing to victims who have nowhere else to go. $28 provides meals for a victim for one week. $131 provides for necessary medical examinations. $421 provides a monthly salary for one of the house moms who will nurture the boys. $950 provides for all of the personal supplies required for one victim. Join us in shining the light of Christ on those living in darkness.
