The Association of Christian Camps and Conference Centres (CCI Ukraine) has been working to grow and support Christian camps in Ukraine for 26 years. Our goal is to build the Church by maximizing the ministry of Christian camps and camp leaders.
Before the war, CCI Ukraine held 30+ training events each year training over 2,500 camp leaders annually and reaching 75,000 children and youth at over 700 camps.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine over a year ago, CCI Ukraine has coordinated evacuation efforts and provided financial assistance to Christian camps and conference centres in Ukraine hosting refugees, as well as sponsored children and youth to attend Christian camps.
In 2022, 40,000 children and youth found refuge, received care, and experienced God’s love in 217 camps that are part of the CCI Ukraine network.
This past fall we helped 11 camps to winterize their refugee facilities, to buy electric power generators, firewood, and diesel fuel and gasoline.
This past winter there were 56 CCI Ukraine Christmas camps in operation where children and youth were able to physically be warm, well fed and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Matviy, a camper, says: "I'm 12 years old! I am very glad that during the war I was invited to a camp; that even though during the camp we had no electricity, they turned on the generator and no one could spoil our holiday! I liked everything, the games, the story, and the Bible characters, but most of all, they gave me my favourite candies; I love them so much. They really surprised me! It was a cool camp!"
As of February 2023, 87 camps within our network have informed us of their plans to operate during the summer in Ukraine. We anticipate that the number of camps will increase as the summer approaches, assuming the war situation does not worsen.
