Cornerstone Counseling - Restoring Hope Through Mental Health Care

In Thailand and various other Asian nations, numerous missionaries engaged in cross-cultural services demonstrate resilience, yet a significant number face mental health challenges. These difficulties arise from factors such as isolation, and stress associated with adapting to a different culture, while frequently leading to experiences such as depression and anxiety. Unfortunately, many individuals in this situation refrain from seeking help, often due to embarrassment and a lack of appropriate resources, thereby exacerbating their mental health issues.

Moreover, the population in Thailand has witnessed a surge in rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide. This underscores a pressing need for an increased availability of mental health resources and treatments in the region.

Situated in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the Cornerstone Counselling Foundation aims to embody hope and healing for individuals, fostering greater wholeness and reconciliation with self, others, and God. Their services extend to Christian workers globally, providing confidential counseling with a Christian perspective. Acknowledging the distinct mental health challenges of missionaries and the local community, Cornerstone's experienced team supports healing, enabling missionaries to continue spreading the gospel in underserved areas.

A diverse range of services is provided to address individual, marital, and family needs. Through individual counseling, clients work one-on-one with trained therapists, tailoring the experience to meet the specific requirements of adults, adolescents, and children. Marital counseling focuses on identifying root issues and unhelpful behaviors to break negative relationship cycles. Family counseling creates a safe environment for children, adolescents, and their families to navigate challenges and move toward wholeness collectively. Additionally, the foundation offers psychiatric consultation for counseling clients, ensuring expert care for the assessment and diagnosis of potential psychological disorders that may require further medical attention.

Ministry Overview:

Cornerstone Counseling acknowledges the distinctive stressors and challenges encountered by missionaries engaged in cross-cultural service. Their counselors, often equipped with their own cross-cultural experiences, offer support to facilitate healing and wholeness. This enables missionaries to persist in extending healing and wholeness to others by proclaiming the gospel in the least reached areas. In response, to the rising rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide in Thailand, they also extend their services to local communities and actively promote mental health awareness. This involves offering community workshops and training sessions, contributing to a broader understanding and support network, both within and beyond the church.

Prayer Request:

Pray for spirit-led wisdom and guidance for all aspects of Cornerstone's Ministry, enabling them to effectively serve both the missionary and local community.
