Hope Rising - Transforming Trauma into Triumph

India, a land celebrated for its vibrant diversity and cultural richness, reveals a complex blend of beauty and adversity. While its landscapes and traditions captivate the world with their uniqueness and color, the harsh realities faced by many women and girls tell a more somber story. Approximately 27% of girls in India are married before the age of 18, and thousands of teenage girls are trafficked and sold into sexual exploitation each year. Additionally, reports indicate that around one-third of women in India experience domestic abuse as a distressing norm. These statistics underscore the stark contrast between India’s celebrated cultural heritage and the pressing issues that demand urgent attention and action.

Hope Rising is dedicated to the belief that with hope, all things are possible. Their mission is to extend the love, truth, and hope of Jesus Christ to those who have endured trauma and life’s wounds, helping them discover their true identity and reach their full potential. They achieve this through various initiatives, including providing healing homes for trafficked survivors, creating safe spaces for trauma recovery with comprehensive support, and offering skill training and educational assistance to help survivors build independent and hopeful futures.

One of their cornerstone projects is the Healing Home and Trauma Recovery Center for Survivors, which focuses on trauma recovery from abuse and exploitation. This center provides a supportive environment with individual and group counseling, medical and psychiatric care, skill development, and vocational training. It also offers financial support for higher education and trauma-informed care training for staff and partner organizations, aiming to equip survivors with the tools they need to rebuild their lives and achieve lasting resilience.

Hope Rising’s Teva Journey serves as a crucial sanctuary. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Teva Journey offers a safe, family-like community where women exiting abuse and exploitation can connect, heal, and grow. With a focus on restoring dignity and identity, the Teva Journey supports survivors in building life skills, securing job placements, and moving towards a hopeful future. Through these efforts, Hope Rising is committed to turning trauma into hope and paving the way for new beginnings.
