The Mission Espoir des Enfants is a non-profit Christian association dedicated to spreading God's love among the most vulnerable. For 23 years in Senegal, this mission has safeguarded children in crisis, such as street children and girls in vulnerable situations, by providing them with a family environment, education, and vocational training to secure a better future. Through God's love, many children have been transformed and restored. One such testimony is that of B.Z., a 16-year-old boy whose life has been marked by hardship and resilience.
B.Z.'s story is one of suffering and triumph. Having been enrolled in a Koranic school from a young age, he never had the opportunity to learn French, Senegal's official language. He endured countless escapes and severe punishments, including being locked in a building for over 12 months. In his desperation, he and a few friends planned a daring escape, sawing through window bars and jumping from a third-story window. Tragically, one of his friends did not survive the attempt. After fleeing to Dakar, B.Z. joined the street children but soon found hope through Mission Espoir des Enfants. He began attending their awareness program and was eventually integrated into the Maison Espoir, where he now learns sewing and dreams of helping other children in need. B.Z.'s transformation exemplifies the mission's impact, as he now prays and works for the rescue of other street children.
The mission’s work is not without challenges. In 2023, a government-ordered eviction in the slums led to the displacement of ten students from the House of Hope school, all of whom were girls. These girls, now homeless, were taken in under the protection of the justice court for children in Dakar. Mission Espoir des Enfants remains steadfast in its commitment to finding and restoring children like B.Z., providing them with education, professional training, and most importantly, God's love. Over the years, their efforts have borne fruit, with children growing into successful adults—a nurse, a lawyer, a translator, a mechanic, a soldier, and even mission staff members—all contributing to society with dignity and purpose. This testimony of God’s faithfulness continues to inspire hope and transformation. Support us this Holiday Season and Donate before the end of the year.
