A Vision of Church Service in Light of the Lord’s Commandment: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” In the midst of Kurdish society from Muslim and Yazidi backgrounds, the aim is to make this happen.
The vision of church service begins with the clear words of the Lord Jesus in the New Testament: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” This great commandment is not merely a spiritual teaching, but a guiding principle and a continuous mission that forms the foundation of all church work, especially in communities that need the light of the Gospel and the love of Christ. When the church works in the midst of Kurdish society, among brothers and sisters from Muslim and Yazidi backgrounds, it carries this divine call with a spirit of profound love and complete respect for humanity, its culture, and its history. The Lord did not send us to judge people, but to offer them life, hope, and truth in a way that reflects the humble heart of Christ.
First: Loving Service - Reflecting the Heart of Christ. The vision begins with love. The Church is called to be a place where everyone—regardless of their background—feels loved and accepted. Christ made no distinction between people; rather, He drew near to everyone. This is why the Church opens its doors with a spirit of fatherhood and compassion to every Kurd seeking peace of mind and tranquility.
Second: Discipleship that Builds Up the Person - Christ's command is not just "Go," but "make disciples." Discipleship means walking with the person step by step, helping them to know Christ deeply and live the Word of God in their daily lives. In Kurdish society, discipleship requires patience, understanding of religious and cultural backgrounds, and respect for the spiritual journey each individual is undergoing.
Third: Clear and Faithful Gospel Teaching- It is the Church's responsibility to teach the truth with wisdom and kindness. Kurds from Muslim or Yazidi backgrounds may have questions, fears, or preconceived notions about Christianity. Therefore, teaching must be based on the Bible, in a constructive, not argumentative, manner. True teaching liberates, not burdens; encourages, not condemns; and leads individuals to know God's love as revealed by Christ.
Fourth: Practical Service as Living Witness Before the Kurdish community hears the Gospel in words, it must see it in the life of the Church. Therefore, the vision aims to serve families, youth, children, and support migrants and refugees in their daily challenges: integration, language, employment, and social support. Practical service makes Christ's commandment clearly visible in reality.
Fifth: Baptism as the Seal of the New Covenant- Baptism is not merely a ritual, but a declaration that a person has become a child of God, their old life has been washed away, and they have entered into the family of Christ. Therefore, the Church approaches this sacred work with wisdom, accompanying the new believer until they are prepared with clear and unwavering faith.
Conclusion of the Vision: Our vision is for the light of Christ to shine in the Kurdish community, and for the Church to be a safe haven that gathers people from all backgrounds, so they may experience God's love and begin a new life in Christ, filled with peace and hope. With every step, we rely on the divine promise: “I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
