At Compassionate Hearts, our purpose is rooted in restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity to vulnerable families and children in Northern Uganda. Through our core initiatives—the Family Food and Nutrition Program and the Hope for a Child Education Program—we are committed to transforming lives in communities grappling with poverty, hunger, and limited access to education.
This program seeks to combat hunger and malnutrition among families living in poverty. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), over 68% of households in our region live below the poverty line, and many families survive on one meal a day or less. Our goal is to equip families with practical tools to improve their household food security. We provide training on sustainable agricultural practices and distribute essential farm inputs such as seeds, hand hoes, and basic tools. By encouraging backyard farming and improved nutrition, we aim to help families grow their own food and break the cycle of hunger.
This program is dedicated to ensuring that underprivileged children—especially child mothers, orphans, and children from low-income families—have access to education and a brighter future. Most schools in our region do not accommodate the unique needs of child mothers, who often drop out due to stigma, early pregnancy, or lack of resources. Through this program, we provide scholastic materials, facilitate access to employable skill training, and advocate for inclusive learning environments where every child, regardless of background, has a chance to thrive.
Despite our commitment, our ministry faces several pressing challenges:
We operate with low staffing levels, and the majority of our team consists of volunteers.
Our office lacks essential equipment such as computers, printers, and communication tools, which limits our capacity to serve more families.
Many vulnerable groups, particularly child mothers, are left out of formal education and support systems.
We work in a region where poverty is widespread, with limited access to clean water, healthcare, and stable income sources.
Even with limited resources, we continue to respond with faith and action. We are actively calling for more volunteers to join us in reaching and serving the most vulnerable. With what little we have, we continue to provide farm inputs and offer basic training in agricultural practices. Most importantly, we gather in prayer every Friday, lifting up our communities and asking for God's grace and provision.
You can be part of this mission. Your support can help us:
Acquire office equipment to strengthen our administrative capacity
Expand our reach to more families with agricultural training and tools
Provide more scholastic materials and vocational training to underprivileged children and child mothers
Sustain and grow our network of local volunteers and field workers
Together, we can be a voice of compassion and a hand of hope. Please consider donating today—your generosity can change a life.
