About this Project

Disciples of Mercy is established to empower the community in the fundamentals of Christian faith, to print, produce, publish and distribute information, educational and communication materials to help empower the community. The ministry has initiatives to aid and assist vulnerable groups and those in need in any way deemed appropriate. The ministry has set up schools, a medical facility, a vocational training center, churches and various other outreach programs to benefit the community as a whole and intends to form other branches.

As any other non-profit making organization, Disciples of Mercy struggles with financial constraints. Due to the limited funding, the ability of the ministry to sustain programs and outreach activities is sometimes impacted greatly. The ministry programs are sometimes disrupted due to political unrest that create an environment of uncertainty and corruption within institutions and government that easily hinder the effectiveness and reach of our Christian initiatives. Additionally, addressing social issues such as poverty, inequality, and healthcare has been challenge because of limited resources.

In a bid to address the financial challenge, Disciples of Mercy does resource mobilization by actively seeking diverse funding sources especially through donations and fundraising done by the director by visitations in various countries. The ministry through the leadership of the director has laid down strategies to raise the various departments in the ministry to become self-sustainable. In handling corruption, the ministry has over the years strengthened internal controls by implementing internal control systems to prevent corrupt practices from getting into the Disciples of Mercy community. This includes regular audits, financial oversight, and clear procedures for financial transactions and reporting.

Over time, the ministry through the leadership of the director has partnered with the local authorities and other organizations to ensure coordinated efforts in response to political unrests. On social issues, the ministry through its health facility provides medical care, vaccinations, and health education in underserved areas within the community and further enhance service delivery by partnering with NGOs and other health professionals. The ministry empowers marginalized groups which include widows, youth, orphans and people with disabilities through its OVCY program.

In conclusion, the ministry has had milestones over the years in regard to the above mentioned goals. However, due to the outlined challenges which majorly depend on finances, the need is still there to empower the community spiritually, economically and socially.
