About This Project
‘Tumaini’ is a Kiswahili word with a three part meaning; hope, trust and confidence. Those are precisely the character traits Tumaini Timbwani School instills in the young people who attend the academy in Mombasa, Kenya.
With the funding of Education for Life Society Canada, underprivileged children from pre-primary to Grade 12 are given an opportunity to reach their full potential through education. In addition to receiving a quality education, students are equipped with school uniforms, textbooks, classroom supplies, and a daily lunch.
Empowering young people, who might not otherwise have access to quality education, builds confidence and unlocks new opportunities for a brighter, poverty-free future. Since first opening their doors in 2004, hundreds of students at Tumaini Timbwani School have been given exactly that opportunity.
Education for Life Society Canada is partnered with Education for Life Kenya, a life-focused, Jesus-centred community who encourages young people to use their skills, knowledge and commitment to build and improve their home, their country and their world.
