About This Project

At Light Africa, our goal is to develop children from impoverished families in Kampala into Godly servant leaders. We are a Christ centered non-profit organization that specializes in developing children through education, discipleship & leadership training. We run schools for all ages including dormitories, operate a children’s choir that tours internationally to fundraise and raise awareness, and are based out of Kampala Community Church.  For this new partnership with GCF & Sam McLoughlin, we aim to start supporting education and other initiatives to help children in the slum of Katanga, about a 20 minute drive from where we are based in Kampala.

Children in Uganda face many challenges. Most come from single-parent homes with many siblings, or are living with their aunts or grandmas after their parents passed away.  Besides nutrition and medical expenses, school fees are one of the most pressing needs. We believe every child should be given the chance to go to school, especially a school where they can also learn the Bible and Christian values. At Light Africa we have various initiatives including sponsorship to support education in our neighborhood of Kampala (called Masanafu). For this project, the main purpose is to gather donations to pay school fees of children aged 5-14 in Katanga Slum.
