Lost and Found Ministries has been based in southern Mexico in the state of Chiapas since 1999. Bill and Tammy Woods, the directors of the ministry have been serving as full-time foreign missionaries for over thirty years. Our ministries include orphan work which includes a school, Bible schools, church planting, and agricultural projects to help sustain the work.
Poverty and lack of education in our area have resulted in many people either abandoning or abusing their children. We work with the government on local and state levels to help provide a safe and loving refuge for these children in our orphanage ministry. Also, with the influx of many refugees and migrants from Central and South America, there has been an increase in abandoned children as we are in the middle of the migration route to the United States.
One of our main projects is the building of homes to house more abandoned and orphaned children in this area of Mexico. Three homes are in different states of construction and finances are needed to finish these projects as well as to provide electrical lines and drill a deeper water well. Solar panels would be ideal for this project. We also have received several handicapped children and finances are needed to remodel several rooms and bathrooms to make them wheelchair-accessible.
Another project we are trying to raise funds for is a poultry barn for raising chickens for meat. We have had success with laying hens for eggs but would like to expand this area for raising fryers as well.
We have ongoing needs for clothes, shoes, school supplies and basic medical and dental attention for our children’s work. We are also helping our older children continue their studies after high school by either attending a trade school or furthering their studies at local universities.
This fall we desire to also begin a Missions training school for both Mexican and foreign students as we have seen the great need to better prepare missionaries through classes, and cultural and language training.
Donations to any of the above projects would be highly appreciated and we would love to connect with you if you have questions.
