After Ruben went on a mission trip to St. Croix in March 2024, Ruben and Nicole felt God prompting them to work with YWAM St. Croix more long term. Together with their three boys, Evan, Zac, and Elijah, they are following God's direction for their lives with obedience and eagerness to share the love of Jesus with others through serving and caring for others. Their main objective is to volunteer with and support YWAM St. Croix as they undergo a season of change and transitions. They are helping take care of the YWAM base property and facilities, ministering to various groups YWAM engages with, such as local homeschool groups, athletes, low-income housing families, children who come for kids programs, and mission teams who come serve short term with YWAM, and connecting with locals that God places in our lives. They also volunteer with a local church by serving in their kids ministry program and outreach.
