Sparrow Home of Sarnia-Lambton is a Christian ministry dedicated to providing a safe and supportive home for pregnant and new mothers who are facing significant life challenges. Rooted in Scripture (Psalm 84:3), Sparrow Home exists to offer hope, healing, and the love of Christ through stable housing and compassionate care. Our vision is to equip mothers to move forward with confidence, become connected to a healthy community, and develop the skills necessary for long-term independence. By creating a family-style living environment, Sparrow Home seeks to nurture dignity, responsibility, and healthy rhythms of life for both mothers and their children.
Many of the women Sparrow Home seeks to serve face multiple, overlapping challenges that make stability difficult to achieve on their own. These include a lack of safe and stable housing during pregnancy and early motherhood, as well as a history of unhealthy relationships and broken family dynamics. As a result, many women have had limited exposure to positive role models and supportive environments, leading to gaps in practical life skills such as managing household responsibilities, preparing nutritious meals, budgeting, and maintaining healthy routines. In addition, some mothers have struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, which can further affect their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being and their ability to care for their children.
Sparrow Home addresses these challenges by providing a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment staffed 24 hours a day by qualified personnel. Each mother and child is given a private room while sharing common living spaces, allowing the home to function much like a family. Residents participate in daily responsibilities such as chores and meal preparation, helping them build practical skills, accountability, and confidence. Alongside stable housing, Sparrow Home offers parenting education, life skills training, counseling, and connections to community resources and continuing education. Staff and volunteers intentionally invest relationally in each woman’s life, modeling healthy relationships and positive family dynamics. Sparrow Home relies on prayer, financial support, volunteers, and shared advocacy to sustain this Gospel-centered ministry and walk alongside mothers as they pursue healing, stability, and hope in Christ.
