Living Stones Orphanage - COVID-19 Crisis Update

Hi!  This is Ken & Cris Sandberg, directors of Living Stones Orphanage in Davao City, Philippines which recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary.  We have dealt with a lot of challenges at the care home through the years, but the COVID-19 Crisis has been unique.  Here's a summary of what the orphanage has been facing--  First of all, before the Lockdown in Davao City, all of the orphans who were studying in local schools had their classes canceled.  Then, the administration of LSO had to cancel all events of visitors coming into the home.Normally, many people like to drop in at the orphanage to play with the kids in the late afternoon on weekdays.  A lot of those folks bring food, medicine, toys, and even cash donations.  All of those visits (into the orphanage property) are not allowed at this time, although some donations are being received at the gate.  Our caregivers usually work a 12-hour shift and then go home.  However, since mid-March, six of them have been living at the orphanage 24/7 as people are not supposed to go in or out of the home to prevent the virus from coming in.  Despite all of these challenges, the kids are still healthy & in good spirits & we have not had any staff or children get the COVID-19 virus.

Urgent Needs

Donations given to Living Stones Orphanage through GCF-Canada at this time are greatly appreciated.  Our primary needs are for funds that help us pay for food, milk, diapers, medicine, cleaning supplies & the cost of utilities at the orphanage home.   Our staff are all paid salaries, so we need to take care of them as well.  Thank you for helping us care for the orphans!

Thank You For Your Prayers & Support

By the way, through the years Living Stones Orphanage has seen almost 100 children adopted to families in Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, throughout western Europe & in the Philippines, too.  Note though, that at this time, all adoptions are on hold.  Airplanes are not even flying in the Philippines for the past month!  Until they are adopted, the children have their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs met through Living Stones Orphanage. On Sundays (when not under lockdown) the kids attend a local church in Davao City where they receive ministry from the Word of God.  At the care home, children receive a lot of hugs and affirmations.  We don't have sad photos to show you as our kids at LSO are generally very happy!  This is in spite of the fact that they don't currently have a "forever family".  However, most of them will be adopted in God's perfect time! Our Goal is $6,000.00 which will help us cover the cost of the 1800 meals per month that we provide for the children & live-in staff over the duration (at least two months) of the COVID-19 Crisis. Please Pray for us as we navigate through these challenging times and we invite you to Donate to help provide meals for these kids.Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will take care of me.  (Psalm 27:10)For the kids,Ken & Cris SandbergPC9icj4=Learn More About Our MinistryPC9icj4=PC9icj4=PC9icj4=
