The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted the developing world. While proactive measures minimized the disease’s spread, travel and gathering restrictions left many youth and families in Rwanda living hand-to-mouth at risk of going hungry. Beauty For Ashes Rwanda, through its parachurch youth ministry The Prayer House, came alongside many of these families. The organization provided a monthly stipend to vulnerable families, giving them a small income to purchase food and basic supplies with dignity. We also covered rent payments, repaired homes, and contributed toward medical and funeral expenses. We also continued to provide gainful employment and paid internships throughout this season, despite a significant drop in local fundraising due to the country’s economic downturn, and are now preparing to send students back to school.

Our MinistryBeauty for Ashes Rwanda is a Rwanda-registered NGO with a mission of releasing a generation to lead full and productive lives. Since its inception in 2014, Beauty for Ashes Rwanda has organized weekly worship services, youth conferences, student outreaches, community service projects, creative and professional development courses, and many other events and activities to promote responsible and informed decision-making among Rwanda’s urban youth. We are committed to building confident, competent youth that are both motivated and equipped to make a positive impact in their communities.Having paused all physical gatherings, we took our worship services online.
