About the Project

Refuge City in Costa Rica is committed to combating human trafficking and supporting survivors through comprehensive programs. Anabel, serving as the Director of Intervention and Survivor Services, oversees critical initiatives aimed at prevention and empowerment. One of the key programs she works with is "EmpowerHer," which equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities. This program is integral to our mission of fostering growth and empowerment among survivors.

Despite the significant progress made by Refuge City, several challenges continue to impede their efforts. Locally, the persistence of human trafficking poses a constant threat to vulnerable populations. Globally, economic instability and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic have exacerbated the vulnerability of at-risk individuals.

In response to these challenges, Refuge City has intensified its efforts to provide holistic support to survivors and at-risk individuals. The "EmpowerHer" program remains a cornerstone of our strategy, empowering women with the tools they need to achieve financial independence and leadership roles. Additionally, Anabel’s expertise and compassionate approach have enhanced various other initiatives within Refuge City, ensuring a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to combating human trafficking.

We invite you to join Anabel in the fight against human trafficking. Your contributions can make a significant difference. Together, we can provide relief, foster growth, and create a brighter future for those impacted by human trafficking. Donate today and help Anabel continue the mission of empowerment and support through Refuge City.
