About This Project

Cuba Outreach Ministries was first established in response to a group of people from Bethel Baptist Church visiting Cuba to assist in building homes and doing maintenance on a medical clinic in 1995. The Bethel group found the needs of the Cuban people to be extensive, as many lived in extreme poverty. The trip resulted in them making a commitment to provide some relief to the Cuban people by meeting practical needs.

Over the years, the ministry has evolved and built connections with local Cuban churches and with a team of people who formed the “Good Friends of Cuba” organization in 2003 to work in conjunction with Cuba Outreach Ministries. Good Friends of Cuba helps vet the needs and support opportunities in Cuba, and is accountable for the financial support sent to Cuba by Cuba Outreach Ministries.

The financial support provided by Cuba Outreach Ministries is used for medical supplies, practical items, church supplies, ministry training & teaching materials, support for local pastors, support for a daycare facility, meals for the needy, support for kids to attend camp, and support for adults to attend retreats. Regular trips are also made to Cuba with the goal of nurturing relationships, helping those in need, assisting pastors, and spreading the word of God.

Why give to this project?

There is increasing civil unrest as Cuba is experiencing an ever-increasing shortage of food, simple basics, medicine, and medical supplies. COM, through Good Friends of Cuba, continues to strive to navigate the complexity unique to this communist country in meeting what needs we are able.
