About This Project

We are James and Anna Schuster. Both of us grew up as missionary kids in Asia, and we are now are missionaries who work for the collegiate ministry Christian Challenge in Arizona. Christian challenge is the Southern Baptist Convention’s collegiate mission arm. The mission of our ministry is 'to engage college students with the Gospel, develop disciples of Jesus Christ, mobilize servant leaders for the church, and send missionaries to the world'. Across the state, we do this by partnering with local Churches to reach various college and university campuses. Each campus works with students through weekly events, such as bible studies on campus and discipleship, as well as attending state-wide events where all the campuses get together to serve and/or praise God!

James and Anna are in the process of establishing a new Christian Challenge ministry on Pima Community College East campus in Tucson, Arizona. Across the whole of the five Pima Community College (PCC) campuses, 17,000 students enroll every year. According to national estimates, only 3-5 percent of them are evangelical believers. We see an urgent need to help students love God, live his word, and serve his people. We are partnering with authentic life Church in Vail, Arizona to reach PCC East.

When it comes to working with college students, our work is definitely cut out for us, and the work isn’t simple. On top of that, when establishing a collegiate ministry, we are dependent on God providing students with a passion to serve the Lord. However, we have heard a call from God to go out into the field. The harvest is ready here in Tucson, and we are praying that God will provide students and that the college would be welcoming of the ministry and that there would be a healthy relationship between us and the college.
