The Vision of UrbanPromise Ottawa is to raise generations of young leaders from Ottawa Community Housing neighbourhoods who reflect Christ in their lives and their communities. Using the Leadership Development Pathway model, our Mission is to Reach a Child (age 5-14), Raise a Leader (15-19), and Restore Community (age 20-24).
The original UrbanPromise started in 1988 in Camden, NJ and has since expanded to 24+ sites around the globe. In Canada, UrbanPromise Toronto currently operates out of three Toronto Community Housing neighbourhoods and Promise Vancouver meets the needs of children, youth and community in the downtown eastside of the city. All of UrbanPromise’s sites around the world strive to achieve the same goal: to provide children and youth with the support needed to succeed academically, grow spiritually, and develop into leaders who can bring change to their communities.
