Swaziland, a small, beautiful kingdom between South Africa and Mozambique, is in dire need. It has the one of the highest AIDS rates in the world and the disease has taken an entire generation of Swazis. In the 90’s the population was decreasing so rapidly that the UN estimated the Swazi people would be wiped out by the year 2050. Although hard work has improved the statistics, the country has suffered persistent drought, adding to the problems. There are around 120,000 orphans and vulnerable children in desperate need of care.In 2006, a team of social developers and entrepreneurs purchased the abandoned mining town of Bulembu with a vision to restore it to a fully sustainable town, which provides care to over 350 orphaned and vulnerable children. Today, our variety of successful Community Enterprises such as the Bulembu Country Lodge, Bulembu Honey and Bulembu Water provide for the sustainability fund for our Community Care. Our children live in family homes with a caregiver, where they receive all they need, and we provide all children with a full education at Bulembu Christian Academy. The town has a thriving church and a clinic where all children receive health care. And so our vision is realized – raising up the next generation to be the future leaders of Swaziland. How can you be involved? Prayer: Please pray for Bulembu as they seek to raise leaders while restoring a town for sustainable Kingdom transformation. They do this by restoring hope, equipping lives, building family through Christ-centered community care and community enterprise.Serve: Consider serving as a volunteer or bringing a team to assist Bulembu with vital work projects along with interaction time with the orphaned children and youth Bulembu provides for.Donate: Consider supporting the work of Bulembu financially. There are many areas in which Bulembu is serving the children and people of Swaziland. Click here for more information and to donate.

*In 2010, Royal Rangers was started in the town of Bulembu in Swaziland. Bulembu's emphasis is on enriching the lives of the children in Swaziland and working to equip them to be the future leaders of this nation using the Royal Ranger program. Since Royal Rangers started in 2010, the number of Royal Rangers in Bulembu has grown to 200 participants. We have had great testimonies of transformation and renewed purpose, especially among the young leaders (15-19 year olds), who participate in Rangers. They now see that they can also make a difference in the lives of other children and they have been equipped and encouraged to lead, teach and assist the next generation.Bulembu is a project of GCF Canada. GCF Canada has over 370 projects operating in Canada and internationally, we are proud to have Bulembu as part of our organization.
