For the past several months, the Yucatan Peninsula has been hit hard by COVID-19 as well as natural disasters. Two severe tropical storms have hit the area followed closely by a hurricane. Loss of employment combined with these natural disasters have caused severe flooding, loss of livestock and property, infestations of mosquitos and food shortages for many of the most vulnerable. Due to government restrictions, children attend school either by TV or internet. Many lower income families are not able to afford monthly internet so their children are not getting an education.

Urgent NeedsJesus places much importance on helping those in need and we are privileged to be positioned to do just that. In order for us to continue this humanitarian outreach program, we need funding do so. Each hamper (including food and hygiene items) or monthly internet access, costs approximately $40. Our MinistryC-Quest has been helping to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in the Yucatan during this unusual time. We assess people’s situations first-hand and reach out to those in need with gifts of food, hygiene and medical supplies, as well as provide them with internet access. We compile hampers for the poorest families that include basic food necessities, hygiene supplies such as toothpaste, toilet paper and soap, and in some cases medical supplies. Our hampers include a Bible, New Testament or gospel tract. Some of our hampers have arrived to people shedding tears of gratitude and proclaiming that they did not know where their next meal was coming from. Some are coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus as a result!
