That’s why we work to develop and empower local leaders with God-given visions for transformation.Leaders like Gilbert:Gilbert Kubwimana is one of the 25 leaders currently participating in our Abundant Leadership Institute (ALI): a one-year advanced leadership certification program for Africa’s most promising Christian leaders.God showed Gilbert how children with disabilities in his community were suffering and lacked support. These children faced extreme discrimation, and many of their neighbours believed they were being tortured by demons for their sins. Gilbert knew this was not true.So in 2017, he founded Love with Actions: an NGO in Rwanda which supports and advocates for children with disabilities and their families. Love with Actions provides therapy, funding for life-changing and life-saving surgeries, and job training for mothers. Love with Actions also recently launched Good Shepherd Academy: a school for children with physical and cognitive limitations such as cerebral palsy, autism, down syndrome, and brain injuries.Gilbert’s passion aligns with his inspiring purpose and he has made tremendous personal sacrifices to serve children with disabilities. However, Gilbert knew he needed support to expand his vision and realize his dream of leading like Jesus. And that’s why Gilbert joined the Abundant Leadership Institute (ALI).ALI has helped Gilbert grow as a Christ-centered servant leader, connected him with other Christian leaders, and equipped him with tools to multiply impact. At Kurumbuka, we’re on a mission to develop and empower 10,000 leaders like Gilbert: Christian leaders working in various sectors who are united by a passion to unleash the potential of the continent. We do this by offering practical and holistic training programs for leaders who want to grow personally, professionally, and spiritually.Ultimately, we exist because Africa needs more leaders like Gilbert – leaders who model Jesus and radically change their societies.PGJyLz4=
Prayer Request:
That we would have God's wisdom in our planning and His guidance during this time of uncertainty. We ask that God would heal our world from COVID-19. We pray that businesses and organizations could begin to function normally, and we pray for communities that have been impacted by restrictions. We ask for wisdom for our government and leaders in Africa and Canada, resilience and protection for health decision-makers, and vaccines to be available for all who need them.
For our ALI Cohort 5 Students who cannot meet for face-to-face training due to COVID-19. Usually our Cohorts have the opportunity for some modules to be held in person, but Cohort 5 has been completely online. While there have been many blessings during these virtual gatherings, we know that it is not the same as if the participants were all in the same room doing team building exercises together. Please pray for them to be encouraged and that they would develop a closeness and unity with each other despite the physical separation.
For more resources to fulfil the vision that we have for 10,000 leaders. We are grateful for all that God has provided so far, and we are excitedly looking forward to seeing more lives and communities transformed through local leadership.
