Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone Blog – Nov 17, 2021

PGJyLz4=PGJyLz4=PGJyLz4=For the past two years, one of our focuses has been journeying with 15 women who have been prostituted through discipleship and skills training, such as tailoring and beads making training. We have seen God at work in the lives of those women as they are determined to work hard and to choose a better way of life. Also, though most of them are from the Muslim background, many of them have started attending church regularly and are developing a personal relationship with Jesus. We also see God at work in our tutoring program. Not only do we help 45 children develop educationally, we also try to meet their practical needs. We provide hot meals, uniforms, and school supplies. When we closed our tutoring program for a break during the months of heavy rain (July and August), we were able to provide “the rainy season shoes” for the children in our tutoring program. They were delighted to receive those gifts as many of them cannot afford them. We see God at work when we see smiles on their faces and when we hear them worship God with loud and cheerful voices at our ministry center.Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone seeks to holistically care for the vulnerable children, youth, women, and families in the Kroo Bay slum area of Freetown. Our ministry focus is on education, health, discipleship, and prevention of sexual abuse. Alé Alé House of Hope, our ministry center, is a place where our neighbors from Kroo Bay can experience community, hospitality, and safety. In addition to our ministry activities, children and youth are welcomed to share meals and play in the playground.PGJyLz4=PGJyLz4=Prayer Request

  • Please pray that the vulnerable children, youth, women and the families from Kroo Bay we work with would come to know the living God in a powerful way.

  • Pray that the children, especially the girls, in Kroo Bay would be protected from any form of abuse, especially sexual abuse.

  • Pray that the vulnerable women in our Women’s Ministry would have strength and courage to continue to choose a better way of life for themselves and for their loved ones.

  • Pray that the children and youth in Kroo Bay would be given educational opportunities and that they would have motivation to learn.

  • Pray that God would grant the Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone staff patience, courage, love, and faith to continue to serve the vulnerable in Kroo Bay.
