Aim-Light High School is a ministry of Aim-Light Ministries
A. The school was launched in 2020 and grew quickly to 150 students by 2023. Malawi provides free education for elementary schools but not for secondary education. In Tsangano where A-LHS is located, there are 18 elementary schools feeding into only one government high school. There is such a need to help students finish their education and so little opportunity. Thus, Aim-Light High School (A-LHS) is strategically located to help train the youth of this region of Malawi.
B. Serving both boys and girls, A-LHS is nurturing students to be Passionate, have Integrity and pursue Excellence within a framework of the Christian faith.
C. In 2022, with support from Canada, the land was purchased, and 2 classroom blocks were built along with a well, septic system and student toilets. This was Phase 1 of building a school that could accommodate 300 students. 2 more classrooms needed to be built as well as finishing off the campus infrastructure.
D. Tuition fees are required for high school students in Malawi yet the fees do not cover all of the expenses. Here is a list of some of the challenges that are not being met from tuition revenue:
For too many months the teacher's wages are late in being paid since families struggle to meet the payment datelines.
Resources for the Library and the Science Classroom are very limited. Until recently there were no books in the school library.
A lunch hour feeding program is very important especially in years like 2023 when the crops were insufficient to provide enough food.
Sanitary supplies for the girls to help them attend school regularly.
Teaching aids for the staff and students would enhance the educational effort beyond the standard chalkboard – things like projection units and textbooks.
Completion of the current buildings and adding two more classrooms to the campus.
We would invite you to support A-LHS and help them provide an inspiring education for Malawian youth. Imagine this school being able to help hundreds of students each year, year after year. The school needs an encouraging hand in these early years to become self-sustaining in due time. Please consider donating and helping A-LHS to help students be the best they can be in this very poor country of the world.
We are pleased to be able to offer donations in either Canadian or US dollars – please click the appropriate button to donate.
Thank you very much – or as they say in Malawi – Zikomo!
