Friends of Newcomers Outreach Network Inc. exists for the purpose of serving and helping newcomers to Canada in practical, social and spiritual ways with the goal of helping them maximize their opportunity for an abundant life here in Canada.
There is an expression that says “In every crisis lies an opportunity”. If that is the case, then life in Canada for newcomers abounds with opportunities! They face many hurdles as they wrestle to fit into life in Canada. Many lack basic linguistic and cultural skills. They can also struggle with a lack of funds for even basic necessities. Many worry night and day because they have left behind children, siblings, parents and friends in life-endangering situations from which they themselves were lucky enough to escape. Many are lonely and homesick and don’t know how they will ever make friends and fit into Canadian society.
We befriend newcomers and serve them as guides to Canadian culture. We put on welcome events for them, help them find jobs, fill out forms, get set up in their new homes, give them rides, help them move, provide English and driving lessons, take them on excursions to show them the local landscape, have picnics with them and many other things. Most of all we try to just be their friends, spending time together in our homes and theirs sharing meals, laughing (and sometimes crying) and sharing the love of Jesus. In Matthew chapter 25 Jesus taught that when we love people in practical ways, we are actually loving Him. The love of Jesus that we demonstrate practically and consistently earns us a respectful hearing for the life-changing truths about Jesus.
You can help show and tell the love of Christ to newcomers and have an eternal impact on their lives! Partner with us through prayer, through visiting newcomers with us, through collecting and giving household items and through investing financially. Contact us today!
